Seeing as I'm too lazy to go check for myself... can anyone else confirm this? :p~

That's not the only reason I don't want to go and check.. it's cos I know I'd be leaving with a dozen glazed donuts. YUM! :p~

Well.. for the next two months that is. Meh.

Ah well, it's certainly better than nothing, isn't it?

I did very well in my finals el7imdillah :D

A couple of questions in my Bio final were a little tricky but I think I did very good :)

After a grueling summer semester tackling three subjects [in three different campuses] I think I've earned my three-hour-bath ritual. Of course, I'm not really free... cos there's the small teensy weensy little subject of GRADES. *insert nervous laughter here*

I would like to wish my fellow students good luck in all of their finals.

And now a special dedication to a dear and beloved professor of ours:

Underpaid Workers = Overflowing Trash Carts

We've all seen it on the news, read about it in newspapers, and probably heard it from friends or family... Many, if not all, workers are on strike due to neglect from their employers side. They're underpaid, overworked, and not being cared for properly. They've been neglected, disregarded, disrespected, and basically pushed over the edge.

The number of foreign laborers here in Kuwait are about 1.2 - 1.5 million.. and their numbers are on the rise. If even a fraction of them decide to go on strike, the whole country would be in utter chaos.

Take a look as some pictures I've taken of trash cans/carts from my area:

This certainly is a problem that can't be ignored.. unless we want to be ankle deep in waste and refuse.

What do you guys think? Who should be offended more? The Muslim community as a whole? or Barak Obama, the Democratic nominee for Presidency?

Be it a satirical criticism of Obama, or political prpaganda.. I personally find this illustration very offensive to Muslims. It was a cheap and tactless approach from Barry Blitt, whose many illustrations I enjoy, to convey his ideas and feelings on Obama's candidancy.

iTunes Store Now Supports Kuwait.. sorta..

Well, the "iTunes Store" now officially supports Kuwait. But.. before you start jumping off the walls.. there's some bad news.

It turns out that users who create an account in the iTunes store will only have access to the App Store and nothing else. This includes iPhone and iPod Touch applications.

If you ask me.. this is a good first step.. we're getting there.. :p~

The rest of us could just redeem points from iTunes gift cards.. that seems to be working fairly well.. at least till the iTunes Store is officially available for Kuwait..

Apple Online Store is Down = new Releases

It's a generally known fact the whenever the Apple online store goes down (ristricted).. And you see that little yellow postit.. It means that a new product is set to be released on that day.

For several weeks after Steve Jobs keynote at Macworld 2008, apple had been releasing new products on every tuesday..

And it seems as if they're aiming for another new release today.

Keep your fingers crossed for a redesigned MacBook Pro!

But some sources suggest that it's just those long overdue redesign of the Apple Cinema Displays.

The Day The Earth Stood Still [December 12th 2008]

The much-anticipated [at lease by me :p] remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film is being released on December 12th worldwide. While the original told a story about and alien and his giant robot coming to discover [observe and document] Earth, this new one seems a bit different. A lot of the scenes in the trailer weren't included and aren't even close to the original.

For those who have watched the original [esp. the ending], you'd notice something strange about this one that'll make you think it's NOT a remake.

The eerie atmosphere is evident in the trailer. It also has the same feel of Speilberg's The War of The Worlds [2005]. I just hope this remake doesn't ruin the message the original one had.

I don't really know much about this film as of yet.. but I'm reading up on it..

Keanu Reeves is going to be playing the part of the Alien... and from what I've seen in the trailer, he's more than capable of portraying that role.

When Will the Lambs Stop Screaming?

Dr. Bernard Zslawomir's Office - Psychologist
San Luis Valley, Colorado

Day One of the Event

A tape was acquired by authorities, which contained the strange and bizarre sessions between psychologist Dr. Zslawomir and twenty seven year old Penny Ford. After loud screams were heard by the recieptionist coming from the doctors office, both Dr. Bernard and Penny Ford went missing on the very day of the last recording. The events of that day still remain a mystery.

Police officer Eric Petty loaded a tape that read "Penny Ford - 4:03 pm" into the recorder, rewinded it a bit, and pressed "Play".

*Tape plays*

Dr. Bernard Zslawomir: Then something woke you, didn't it? Was it a dream? What was it?

Penny: I heard a strange noise.

Dr. Bernard Zslawomir: What was it?

Penny: It was screaming. Some kind of screaming. Like a child's voice.

Dr. Bernard Zslawomir: What did you do?

Penny: I went downstairs... outside, and crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside but I had to.

Dr. Bernard Zslawomir: What did you see penny? What did you see?

Penny: Lambs. They were screaming.

Dr. Bernard Zslawomir: They were slaughtering the spring lambs.

Penny: And they were screaming.

Penny Ford never believed that seeing her therapist, Dr. Bernard Zslawomir, would be fruitful. She had never been able to get over what had happened when she was thirteen years old; when she watched both her parents and her two older brothers brutally murdered in the family's barn in Southern California.

Earlier that morning, Penny had received a strange text message from a strange number, and chose to ignore it. The message said:

Why aren't you answering your cell??
Meet us at the barn.
Call me back. M-

Penny never wanted to go back there. She couldn't . Not after what had happened. She looked for an answer in the back of her mind. Could it be Marlena, her sister? No, it couldn't! Marlena knew better than to bring up such a sore subject, let alone ask to meet at the place where only painful memories remain. What could be so important to Marlena that made her call and text her in such a way. Marlena never calls, nor texts Penny. Except on her birthday and at Christmas.

After getting a dozen other calls and messages, and feeling curious about how persistent Marlena was, and quite frankly a little worried, Penny decides to call back, only to be answered by screaming and crying from the other end. A few seconds later, the crying stops.

Penny: Hello?! Is this Marlena? Hello!! Marlena are you ok? Marlena! Answer me!

Eerie Voice: Hello Penny. Have the lambs stopped screaming?

Penny ended the call and turned off her phone, cursing and cussing at the voice. The expression of sheer fear and terror was clearly evident on her face. It was as if she had seen a ghost, and was drained of all the blood in her body.

She hailed a cab, and asked the driver to take her to Dr. Bernard Zslawomir's office on Lexington Street. The call she had just gotten wasn't the first, and knew that it wouldn't be the last. The only person she could talk to was Dr. Bernard, for after what happened, Penny began to distance herself from the world. She hadn't allowed herself to become too attached to anything.. or anyone. The thought of losing somewhen else was unbearable.

On the way to Dr. Bernard's office, Penny began to see things. Things that shouldn't be there. Things that she shouldn't see. Things only nightmares are made of. She took out the pills that Dr. Bernard had perscribed for her two months ealrier, and took two. They certainly did help, though they made her drowsy most of the time. But the truth of the matter is, anything is better than seeing those things. Anything is better than living in a nightmare of a world.

I haven't been sleeping that well for the past couple of weeks.. Feeling very frustrated because of it..

I've got a class at 8:00, which I really can't miss seeing that I have a quiz on sunday, and I didn't attend yesterday's class. :p

Watching Will & Grace right now, and trying to fall asleep.. *sigh*

I've got a lot of work and studying to do this weekend. *double sigh*

Movie Review : WANTED : 84%

Wow, just wow. I loved this movie! Although it's not without its faults, it certainly does deliver. The performances were solid, the effects were mind blowing, the development of the story was good. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout almost the entire movie. Though predictable at times, Wanted excites and pulls off a couple of new and unique surprises.

Angelina Jolie was just amazing. I loved every scene she was in. James McAvoy was spectacular as Wes Gibson. They couldn't have picked a better actor to play the role. He was just perfect for it. Morgan Freeman is just brilliant. The chemistry between the characters is undeniable.

This action-packed summer movie is sure to be a blockbuster, with its nail-biting chase scenes, and sizzling performances from Jolie, McAvoy, and Freeman.

Some are comparing this movie to the Martix, but in my opinion, this one's much more fun. After you watch it, a lot of you might want to take up shooting and the range soon :p~

In sum, it was smart, entertaining, and funny in just the right parts. A must see summer movie.

Plot [~SPOILERS~]

Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is a neurotic accounts manager who works in a small cubical filling out billing reports day in and day out. He allows his boss, his girlfriend, and his best friend to walk all over him. To cope with his life, he takes anti-anxiety pills by the bottle full. Wesley has no desire to change his humdrum life, but one day while getting more pills at the drug store, he meets a beautiful woman, Fox (Angelina Jolie), who changes his life forever.

Fox was sent to protect Wesley from the man who had just killed his father. Fox tells Wesley that his father died yesterday on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Building and that he will be next. Wesley is recruited into the "Fraternity," a secret society of assassins that his father was a member. Fox must train Wesley to bring out his special powers that he was born with in order to avenge his fathers death. The New 911 Carrera Models

The New 911 Carrera Models

I'm guessing the covered model is either the new Turbo or GT3.

The new 911 Carrera models have been announced and can be viewed on the Porsche website. Porsche did mention that it had a redesign in mind, and that they were working on several features that they had wanted to integrate into the 2004 models but couldn't due to time conflict or something...

As you can see, the headlights, taillights, front and back bumpers, as well as the front fog lights have been redesigned. Some slightly, but other drastically.

Some of the new features include Roll-over protection, Bluetooth Interface, Voice Control System, Touchscreen, Dynamic Cornering Lights, TV Tuner and the very hot Launch Control. :p
Although it might not seem like much, the interior was redesigned as well. The screen, the buttons on the console , and the gearbox. Another fun little feature is the Universal Audio Interface which allows connectivity with many media devices/ music players. All in all, the redesign seems to have touched on many hot new notes. Although I'm not crazy about the taillights, I do believe that Porsche are on the right track by going for a more classic look, and return to their roots.

I tried to help her, but she wouldn't stop bleeding. There was blood everywhere. She kept jumping, scratching, and clawing at our car. I didn't know what to do. Darrian, my 18 year old daughter, was sitting next to me in the passenger seat. The terrified look on her face made my heart sink deep into my stomach. Johnathan and Marie were sitting in the back seat. Marie, my 4 year old, was screaming. She didn't understand what was happening, and the bizarre thing is, neither did I.

Johnathan was 16. He seemed to have bottled up the fear, as he hugged Marie and tried to calm her down. But you can still see it in his eyes; the sense of fear and dread had clearly taken over.

I held the steering wheel as tight as I could, and thought to myself... "How can I get my kids out of here?" And then it clicked. I knew what I had to do. This crazed woman was putting my kids in danger. She needed to be stopped; in any way possible. I told my children to cover their ears and keep their eyes closed. I reach over to the glove compartment and open the secret latch which housed my 9mm.

I never thought the day would where I had to even use it, but it did. I waited until the women was on the left side of the car, so I'd have time to get out, do what I had to do, and get back in.

I opened the door, aimed at her head, and pulled the trigger. I must have shot at her three or four times. The woman collapsed on the ground. She was shaking for what seemed like hours, and then she was suddenly still. I stared at her pale face for a while, trying to piece together what had just happened. But I couldn't risk my kids getting hurt, so I left her there. She was a stranger after all. I didn't know what else to do.

I sped of into the street and up the highway. I couldn't risk going back home. People where dead. They were everywhere. All over the pasture, in the yards, hundreds of lifeless corpses decorated the streets like an apocalyptic nightmare.

It's been 13 days, but I can still hear the screaming and the banging; I can still smell the blood. What had happened that day still and might always remain a mystery.

R.I.P iPhone - Delish - No Knobs?

@ Home:

I dropped my 8GB iPhone in water.. and um.. it sorta died. I quickly dried it off and watched the screen slowly flicker then turn white. After that, it kept rebooting, over and over again. And finally, it died. After drying it off with a hair dryer, and keeping it, face down, in a container of rice, it started working. But, the screen's not lit and not responsive. It's depressing. I've had it since November. I loved it. I want it back.

Anyway.. the new 3G iPhone is coming out soon [July 11th].. but I'm not sure how people are gonna get their hands on one. Sure the features are amazing, and the price is really low, but you can't get one unless you sign a 2 or 3-year contract with AT&T. Hmmm.. I just hope someone finds a way. FAST.

@ The Terrace Grill:

Went to the Terrace Grill today with the family and had a great time. I shared a plate of Escargot with one of my sisters, and it was delicious. For the main course, I had the Surf and Turn dish, which is a combination of Fillet Mignon and Lobster Tail. Well, the Fillet was amazing, but the Lobster wasn't that good. I'm guessing it's because it's not Canadian [out of season] but Australian. And for desert [drum roll please] I had the Chocolate Tart with chocolate creamy filling and vanilla ice cream. It was delicious, but not as good as it was before.

@ The Avenues:

Went to the Avenues with one of my sisters to get her a new phone and iPod. Just before the not so fruitful experience with X-Cite [Alghanim Electoronics], we found a parking at level A4. So we're walking to the entrance right? when we got there, I reach out for the doorknob and was surprised to find this...

... ummm.. has the world run out of doorknobs? or is this a new trend?

A catastrophe, is one way of describing it. People just kept dropping like flies one day. Everyone just collapsed dead on the ground. And now, two strangers in San Luis Valley, Colorado are forced into a climatic battle over the fate of their family.

~Part One~

Marlena Ford woke to the screams of her five year old daughter, and rushed to her side. Rebecca had been having night terrors for the past couple of weeks, and Marlena had no idea what was triggering them. She had taken her to the doctors several times before, but without avail.

Rebecca would describe horrible creatures that come to her at night clawing at her legs, arms, and face. The signs of these supposed "attacks" did leave visible marks on Rebecca's body. The doctors dismissed them as being self-inflected injuries, and that they were common with night terrors. Some doctors would perscribe mild tranquelizers, but Marlena didn't like the fact of medicating her daughter.

"Mommy, they're back!" cried Rebecca,

"It's alright honey, I'm here. No one can hurt you now." replied Marlena,

"No mommy, they're outside. The monsters are outside."

"There are no monsters outside honey. It's only a dream."

"But mommy, you're not listening. Look outside."

Marlene was puzzled at how calm and collected her daughter was that night. It was as if she was sure she saw something. She decided to check outside Rebecca's bedroom window, just to reassure her that there was nothing to fear. And just as she reached the window, she saw them. They were scatted all around the yards and streets. Hundreds and hundreds of dark figures laying still on the ground. The sheer shock of the scene sent Marlene darting to the front door.

"Stay in bed honey. I'll be right back." said Marlene,

As she reached the door he hesitated a bit. She kept telling herself that she must be seeing things, but the truth of the matter is that she wasn't. She opened the door and there they were. They were everywhere. Marlene walked out into the yard with her hand covering he mouth, as the figures began to come into focus. Branded like cattle, the "monsters" Rebecca was talking about to were people. People with bloodshot eyes, pale skin, and white hair. There was Amanda, her 72 year old neighbor, Marcus, her daughters schoolmate, and Jeanine, Marlene's best friend since high-school. What had happened to them is a mystery that, Marlene decided, she doesn't want to uncover.

She ran upstairs, grabbed a few clothes from her and her daughters cupboard and tossed them in an old bag. She carried her daughter and headed to her 1992 Jeep Cherokee. She started the engine and just sat there for a while, trying to process what was happening. There was no warning, nothing on the news, the radio's dead, her phone didn't work. What was happening to her was the stuff nightmares are made of. She kept telling her daughter to cover her eyes. She put the car into gear, clasped her hand on the steering wheel, pushed her foot down on the accelerator, and dove off into the night.

As she drove off into the distance, two words echoed in her mind. Two words that would give her hope for a better future. Two words that would keep her going. One of them is faith, and the other is love.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes

I'm an avid Stephen King reader. I've read quite a few of his novels and short stories, but sadley, I haven't been able finish his most recent work - Duma Key. I was surfing the net just know and came accross a short miniseries titled Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King, which is an adaptation of Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Stephen King's collection of short horror stories.

Unfortunately, all the torrents I've found on this show have no seeders.. so, meh. Luckily, it's on Amazon.com so yay!
Ironically, the title of this post seems to fit perfectly with my current status. I can't really sleep, cos every time I close my eyes, a creepy guy pops up who freaks the hell out of me. I don't really know who he is, but I do know that I DO NOT want to see him ever again. *yawn*

The search for "the best" ISP in Kuwait...

I'm looking for the best Internet Service Provider in Kuwait.. Fasttelco's service is crappy.. nuff said I guess :p~

I'm currently eyeing United Networks. An ultimate [Unlimited] 2MB connection seems pretty good to me. Ya3ny basically, in a nutshell, it doesn't moderate your download speeds when conducting peer-2-peer sharing. [Torrents..etc.] That's what I need right now.

But the problem is, I've been getting mixed reviews, on ALL ISP's, so I don't really know which one to go for. There doesn't seem to be any solid provider here. I'm either going for Quality Net, Zajil, or United Networks.

If anyone out there has any experience with these ISP's please leave a comment.

Don't get me started on the prices. A 2MB connection cost about 35-50 KD per month here in Kuwait; a 6MB [downstream speed] connection costs about $ 35 per month in the States [Spec. LA, California] God, I miss LA. :(

The only downside to finding the best ISP is the all the HD's I'm gonna have to buy. :p

I've registered three classes this summer semester, so that I can be done with this godforsaken place early.. the only problem is.. all three are 20 minutes apart.. and.. wait for it.. in three different campuses.

10:40-11:40 Shuwaikh

After throwing a temper tantrum, and having a couple of panic attacks on Amethyst online.. She was such a sweetheart, and opened my eyes. She gave me a boost of confidance that I so desperately needed. Thanks Amez :)

So I woke up this morning at 7:30, rushed to the shower, scrambled through my clothes and rushed out of the house. [Yes, I forgot to pray (1)] And what happens? My 8:00 am class get's canceled?! Oh, and what's even worse is that we're dismissed from our 9:20 class every Thursday.. So I have to wait it all out.. grrr.

Have I mentioned how much I'm HATING KU right now?

I'm writing this retraction because some information was brought to light for me. I knew that M. Night Shyamalan did option an old version of this movie to many major movie studios but was rejected early last year. But Shyamalan shouldn't have succumbed to the "Suits", and kept true to his original idea.

The Happening [a.k.a The Green Effect] tells the story that is layered with sentimental meaning so powerful that it would be difficult to ignore. Ergo, why I'm writing this retraction.

In my eyes, the end product deserves a 6 or a 7 out of 10. But the true notion and idea behind Shyamalan's intention deserve a 10!

The Happening tells beautiful story whereby a married couple rediscover their love for each-other in a time where the world is taken by a cataclysmic event. Unlike how most people might see it, the movie is NOT about blood, guts, and gore. It is evident in how the director himself removed the more nasty and grotesque scenes [zoo keeper feeding himself to lions], which I thought was edited out here in Kuwait through the censorship department of the Ministry of Mass Communication.

The original title [The Green Effect] didn't only refer to the plants violent attack against humanity, it refered to the reconciliation between Alma and Elliot in the end. The significance of the color green was ultimately eliminated when, after not having his original script picked up, Shyamalan had rewritten the screenplay to suit what "hollywood" thought the audience wanted to see.

Those who have seen, or are planning on seeing the movie will know the answer to Alma's [Zooey] question about the mood ring "what color was love?" It is a shame that we didn't get to see the end product that was inteded by this extremely talented young writer, director, and producer. This movie, as did some of his earlier works, wil most probably be dismissed as overrated garbage.

Shyamalan, fascinated with the aspect of human nature, endeavors to expose as much as he can through the tool he knows best - film making. And I personally think that he had one hell of a script to produce, but was stripped from the chance to express his true genious cos of the "Suits".

All in all, the movie gets a 90% on the Zoozameter after careful and elaborate observation.

The Happening: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

The movie is still stuck in my head, but not for the reasons you might think. It's the music. Captivating composer James Newton Howard comes back to score another M. Night Shyamalan movie and I think it's one of his greatest yet.

I am not an avid follower of soundtracks, composers, or musicians, but James Newton Howard is fantastic. Each note of his blends harmoniously with the next creating a sense of urgency and serenity at the same time.

Maya Beiser's cello solos are so riveting! Her performance is breathtaking. She's the glue that holds this amazing album together. I swear to God, you'll love her! :-o

Howard has yet to disappoint [Unlike Shyamalan, whom I still love :p], and presents us with a majestic work of art that will forever echo in the coliseum of my memories.

That God for iTunes, huh? :p~
$9.99 is a bargain for this exquisite piece of musical art.

It's Friday the 13th! and I'm on a search to find that next big horror movie. After being disappointed by The Happening, I started surfing the net for a while and came across the long awaited teaser trailer of the Korean horror remake titled Mirrors.

[Release Date : August 15th]

Directed by Alexandre Aja [The Hills Have Eyes '06 Remake - High Tension], Mirrors is centered around the character of Ben Carson [Keifer Sutherland], an ex-New York police detective, who has been relieved from duty due to the fatal shooting of another officer. A recovering alcoholic, recently separated from his wife, Ben takes a job as head of security at a burnt down department store plagued by unexplained deaths.

The store is also the target of demonstrators wanting compensation for an earlier staff fire tragedy. The man becomes intrigued by a disturbed woman. She claims her sister, who died in the fire, is exacting revenge, using mirrors as a gateway back into the living world.

If you ask me, it looks like a remake of the three Poltergeist movies. Anyway.. having something to watch is better than nothing. :/

Horror Movie Marathon tonight. Me and a couple of friends are skipping the game and going to watch 13 horror movies continuously tonight. Four tubs of Ben & Jerry's are chillin' in the freezer, and two boxes of popcorn are just waiting to be popped :p~

Movie Review: The Happening 75% [being kind]

Movie Synopsis:

M. Night Shyamalan directs this thriller about a father (Mark Walhberg) who tries to escape with his family after an apocalyptic event. THE HAPPENING costars Zooey Deschanel and John Leguizamo.

Cinescape Experience:

I cannot believe that they are actually editing out graphic death scenes now. As a horror/gore fan, I am appalled by this. The Ministery of Mass Comm/ Cinescape should be buried alive and have their grave spat on.

Movie Experience and Review:

The lighting was enthralling. The direction was superb. The effects were captivating. But the acting... uhh the acting was mainly ok, but just downright stupid at times. Mr. Shyamalan should have spent more time working on the script, just as much time as he spent tryign to make it strange and otherworldly.

The mic did appear at the top of the screen in some shot, which really bothered me at times.

M. Night Shyamalan writes, directs, and produces another thriller, in which he portrays moments of urgency and drama through aiming but missing on the Hitchcockian style.

The Happening starts out with an eerie couple of scenes that would send chills down anyone's spine, but takes a wrong turn after 30 to 40 minutes into the movie.

*Spoilers Start*

There are some interesting sequences, where that viral video on Youtube [a large group of people stand still at the exact same time] was adapted on screen. Another creepy sequence is were a man actually turns on a huge lawnmower and lays down on the grass and gets "mower-ed".

The scene that was edited out is where a zoo keeper provokes a lion and gets eaten alive. Thanks to Jerrod, I got my hands on the final script four weeks ago, and some preproduction daily footage.

*Spoilers End*

There were some fun jumps here and there, but other than that zilch. It was as if the movie went from filming to cinemas before entering preproduction. Okay, maybe I'm being brutal, or maybe I've just built it up way too much in my mind, but the movie was just ok for me.
Zooey Deschanel was really good considering what she had to work with. I loved every scene she was in, and Shyamalan was Mark Walhberg was not very good. He was clearly not the best choice to play the lead role. The kid was good, but annoying at times.

Advice:

Go and see it if you REALLY want to, but otherwise skip this one and wait for a decent screener or DvdRip to appear online, or rent it from iTunes in a few months.

It was one of those perfect mornings. We were both out sipping lattes by the pier and having a great time. Suddenly, she gets a call and tells me that she has to leave. She does.

When you're at a point when you have everything going for you.. Why do we let the one thing we don't have affect they way we feel about all of the things we do have?

I needed an upper, and fast. But just before I was about to point at that gorgeous chocolate chip muffin next to the counter, I remembered all the hard work I had put in the past couple of months. It wasn't worth it. So I just got lost shopping all day. And believe me, it doesn't help that much... except the economy, of course.

There are times when a guy relishes being alone, but today wasn't one of them. So after a few phone calls I gathered with a few friends and we went sailing. It was a good day. But I couldn't help but think about how much more it would be if I was with her.

Planning on getting your hands on a new iPhone? Good luck!

Well, as it turns out that Apple will NOT be selling the new iPhone 3G online. You need to go to the Apple Store or an AT&T store, get a phone a sign a 2-year contract with them. Then you can either have them activate it at the store or you can continue the activation proccess at home.

Apple tried doing this with the previous iPhone to keep the exclusivity to AT&T, but people kept buying the phones and unlocking them to use them with their own Service Provider, which left hundreds of thousands of unactivated AT&T accounts. Apple made the iPhone exclusive to AT&T in the States.. but will sure to have contracts and agreements with other SP's in the near future. T-Mobile, Vodafone, and other mobile service providers have signed a contract with Apple and are set to release the iPhone in 22 countries July 11th and 70 other countries later this year.

Will Zain be smart and get to Apple before Wataniya does? If either of them do.. the iPhone will probably start from 199 KD rather than $199 dollars. My Blackberry Curve was like 180 KD when I got it.. and it's like $99 cheap in the states when you sign a contract with one of the SP's.

With its GPS, 3G technology, and amazing new features.. the iPhone 3G might take TWICE as long to find its way into out pockets. Let's just hope that the iPhone Dev Team can crack the new 2.0 firmare.

P.S. There are two or three ways to get the new iPhone 3G, but they're a hasstle.. let's just wait till July 11th and see.

The Wedding Night

After having a conversation with (Am), I decided to dedicate a post to comment on "that special night".

Ok, so you're married. You've survived the planning, went through with the ceremony with your grace and dignity still intact, and battled the hateful stares and impudent comments of that LOUD aunt of yours; now what?

What's next? The Wedding Night, of course. Hmmm, interesting.

Your knees are buckling under your dress or "dishdasha". Your heart is beating faster and faster with every step you take to get closer to eachother. You find yourself out of breath. Both of you look deep into eachothers eyes and instantly know that something amazing is about to happen.

While most popular coffee shops here in Kuwait offer a 1-hour Wi-Fi card with every order you make, Starbucks [U.S.] are offering its regular customers 2 hours of free Wi-Fi a day if they use their Starbucks Card.

Basically, "to get your AT&T Wi-Fi account, you simply need a Starbucks Card that you have used in the last 30 days, and agree to receive up to four emails per year from AT&T. It would be rather interesting to see Starbucks striking a deal with one of our telecommunication companies and create a similar deal. Hopefully, the green-eyed montser would stay hidden and not rear its ugly head like always. Hint, hint. :p~

I'm thinking of starting a new story, but I'm torn between three main ideas. Note that they are going to be written as a series.

1. God told me to
A young woman starts killing random people, believing that "God told her to do it".

2. Marcus
A disturbed young boy is plagued by horrific nightmares and headaches that he believes make him commit murder.

3. Friday the 13th*
A man and a woman inherit an antique store from their dead great uncle, who made a pact with the devil years before to sell cursed artifacts. They endeavor to retrieve these antiques from the people who bought them to stop the curses from causing harm.

* This has no relation with the horror series titled "Friday the 13th". This story is based on a television series, of the same name, that aired between (1987-1990).

3 months later

3:00 AM

After discovering all of the papers were just a sham, created by his deranged mother [birth mother], Michael decides to take his own life. He had been hoping, and searching for his supposed "birth father", and "twin brother" for three months. He was searching for nothing. A far fetched lie created by his ill mother. His real mother. His only mother.

He heads to the kitchen and takes a knife out of the first drawer. He looks at the knife for a few minutes, examining the tool that he would use to end his sham of a life. Then, suddenly, something happens. He snaps. His face turned white. It was as if he had seen a ghost. He turns around and walks towards the stair and up to his mothers room. He opens the door, but does not turn on the light. He walks over to the bed and places his hands on the sheet. He raises the knife with his right hand, and strikes at the bed, rapidly, several times. He stops at the 13th stab.

He walks back to the door and turns on the light. And there, on the bed, was his father, dead. What he had just done pushes him over the edge of insanity. He screams and yells. He starts acting frantic and runs to the attic. He opens the window facing the garden and jumps. He plunges to his inevitable death.

The End

I wanted to end this story because I had another one in mind. Writers block...whatcha gonna do? I had a lot of ideas in mind for Michael Faux... but it just didn't seem appealing to me anymore. Apparently, some readers (you know who you are) are getting confused. So I decided to end the story, and killing Michael off was the best way to do it.

If you're a student at Kuwait University, you're probably suffering [like me] from pre-final jitters. It's one thing most of us have in common.

While these tests are said to bring out the best in us, preparing for them ultimately brings out the worst. Modesty turns into doubt, and dedication turns into obsession.

While some of us are driven to self-medication, others cling to the security blanket they've had since they were eight. [like me]

As we strive to not lose control, problems keep popping up here and there. And as we're pushed to the brink of insanity, Stress' sister Anxiety rears her ugly head.

I'm gonna leave now to continue reading, while sipping on my dark but sweet cup of American coffee.

He was a man possessed. He couldn't eat, drink, or sleep; all he could do is think about his twin brother. It all makes sense now. All those years of feeling lonely and depressed. His other half was taken away. The truth behind what had happened still remained a mystery.

He sulked to the television set and turned it on. A voice comes on before the image appears:

"The bodies of nineteen year old Jessica and Jenna Tripp were discovered stuffed in a garbage dump late last night. The sheriff's department has yet to release any add..."

The woman's voice faded away in the backgrounds of his thoughts. This was the fourth murder case in two months. The police have no leads; and why would they? They're all a bunch of red-neck assholes who can't even teach a monkey to scratch its own ass.

He forced himself to focus. He'd been spending countless hours on the computer and on the phone trying to track down his birth father and twin brother. It never mentioned his name. His brother's name. Who was he? How would he act if he saw me? These an many more questions were circling in the bowls of his mind.

His father walked in, without knocking like every other day, asking if he needed anything. Michael never confronted his parents about his discovery, but he was tempted to do so now. Michael knew a trick. He knew how to turn his life into a movie, and watch it unfold in front of him. Not to him, but to someone who looked just like him. Was he the runaway with everything he owned in a torn old backpack? or was he watching a movie about a hitchhiking runaway on a lonely highway. A truck slowed, until the boy squinted in its headlights. But one good look at him, and the trucker couldn't get out of there fast enough. Michael didn't have the strength to curse him, as he choked on the dust of his spinning wheels.

He had always felt like half a person-half a person with half a soul. Sometimes if he dreamed hard enough, he could bring the two halves together. But he always woke to the same feeling of loneliness and loss. His hands trembled with anticipation as he opened the folder containing the birth records. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he'd been hoping that his biological father would be, oh, George Cloony or Antonio Banderas.

Instead, it was someone called John Faux. He wrote down the name, and his father's last known address. But it was what he saw next that slammed into his gut like a celestial fist. He stared at the hospital records with disbelief. It couldn't be true. But there it was in black and white. Not only did he have a father he had never met, he also had an identical twin. But John Faux had left town with his twin brother almost eighteen years ago. How would he ever find his other half? He knew only that he had to try; he had no choice.

Odd, even; right, left; rest, motion; peace, war; love hate. There are two halves to everything. Sometimes these get cut. They get cut in half.

Grey's Anatomy Season 4 Finale Edit

Finales are almost done.. with only a couple of shows left.

The (80 min) Grey's Anatomy finale [Episode 16 + 17] was by far the best so far! Let's just say that everything we've been waiting for... for the past three years.. finally align. It's smart, clever, touching, and HOT! I'm just in shock right now.

Although hindered by the writer's strike and other problems, these last couple of episodes were a great ending to a good season. Oh, and the song at the closing scenes were awesome. I'm gonna get back to editing my final paper for my Theory & Criticism class. Wish me luck! :-p~

I might be making a big mistake a few minutes from now. I don't know what to do. A friend has been having a few problems, and I just don't know what to do anymore. 2007 has been a rough year. But this years doesn't show much promise either. El7imdillah 3ala kil 7al, but sometimes you just can't help feeling bad.

I've been blessed to have such a wonderful family, and so many great friends and best friends, and I'll never take that for granted. Uhhh.. ok. I'm just gonna go deal with this the only way I know how. Yelling is expected.

Ok.. so.. a lot of shows are ending this week, promising us a new season this fall. But of course, as in every year, it is a time where other "fresh" new shows make an appearance.

After months and months of speculation and rumors, the new Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off is finally a "go", starring some of the hottest young stars of our time. Even though some can't even act if their lives depended on it, I've looking forward for this shows since the rumors started. Jennie Garth has a recurring role in the show. Rumors also circulate that Tori Spelling might also make a guest appearance in the pilot episode.

Starring one of my favorite young actresses, Jessica Stroup, the show holds much promise for this coming fall season.

Iron Man is one of this summers most anticipated Superhero movies.

"The gadgetry is absolutely dazzling, the action is mostly exhilarating, the comedy is scintillating and the whole enormous enterprise throbs with dramatic energy." - Joe Morgenstern [Wall Street Journal]

The movie pushes all the right buttons. It is both thrilling and inventive. It is defiantly one of the smartest Superhero movies I have ever seen. Enjoyable on so many levels, Iron Man is a must see for all.

The special FX were bedazzling, the action was gripping, and the characterization was enthralling. Brimming with charm and charisma, Robert Downy Jr. fills the screen with his incredible and otherworldly performance. Gwyneth Paltrow makes an amazing come-back to the big screen as Tony Stark's assistant/side-kick. Her performance is enchanting and bewitching.

The camera touches on all the right angles. It's no wonder that this superbly directed action-packed movie has gotten rave reviews from both top world-renowned critics and audience members alike.

Although the ending could have been a lot better, it certainly isn't lacking. I really enjoyed this movies and would recommend it to everyone.

Go see it!

Trust me. It will certainly delight even non-comic lovers!

Well, I was going to steer clear of this whole Elections crap. But after listening to some of the bullshit these hypocrites have been blurting out on TV, I felt obligated to comment.

The Amir dissolved the parliament due to constant "clashes" and arguments between the government and certain MPs. It's typical of our country to shy away from delegation and to quit whenever things get too rough.

I will be running a series of articles on the 2008 Kuwait Parliamentary Elections, exposing the good, the bad, and the downright awful.

The New iMac

As anticipated, the iMac lineup has been "refreshed" with new speed bumps, memory, and graphics cards. Sporting the latest and greatest Core 2 Duo Penryn processors, the new iMac models should be speedier and cooler than their predecessors.

Ranging from 2.4 GHz up to 3.06 GHz, the current lineup is priced at $ 1,199 to $2,199 respectively. Apple is still offering a 20-inch model and a 24-inch model.

There are some configuration options as well. You can add up to 4GB or RAM, choose a 1TB Hard drive, and pick the latest NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory, which is the most powerful graphics ever available on the all-in-one desktop line.

Current iMac Standard Configuration Options

These models are set to be available in Kuwait in about a Month or so, and they will be offering the Keyboards in both Arabic and English. All four models should be available.

It was 11:45 p.m. and he still hadn't come home yet. What was keeping him? Who was he with? Had he forgotten me?

I was plagued by these questions all night long, and I couldn't wait any longer. My loins was burning with lust. I could just imagine *** **** ******* ** ****** ****. The **** and ******** would lead up to a *********** ****** that we both never had before. Tonight was especially important, for it was his birthday. And I couldn't wait to please him with the preparations that I have made. I baked his favorite cake from scratch, and spent my savings and allowance to get him the brown leather jacket he'd always wanted.

Where is he? Why hasn't he called to let me know he was coming late?

I made sure that my mother and siblings weren't home. So that we can have the freedom to do what we wanted to. I hadn't told my friends about him, for they wouldn't understand. They couldn't understand. They would just glare at me with their objectifying eyes. But more than that, I might be taken away from him, or he away from me.

Where could he be at this hour? Why hasn't he called yet? I can't wait any longer.

Just as I was about to grab my keys and head out the door to look for him, his car pulled into the drive way. My heart leaped up with both joy and angst. He's finally here. And now we can be together. Just the two of us. Alone. He got out of his classic 1956 red Jaguar Roadster with a big smile on his face, and a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He walked up to me and gave me the most sensuous kiss.

"Good evening my love," he said with such warmth.

"Good evening D**," I replied.

A time comes in your life when you finally get it. In the midst of all your emotions, a sense of fear and dread surface. You begin to question yourself, your life, and your existence.

You ask yourself in front of your mirror "Who am I?", You just stand there for a moment as if you're waiting for a reply. That's your face looking back at you, but it's different. It's changed somehow. You don't understand what's happening. But you know something is different; something is wrong.

You begin to question what your purpose is in this world. Will you just be another drifter? or will you be one of the men and women who leave their mark in the pages of history?

And suddenly, your focus drifts to the bloody knife in your left hand. "whose blood is that?" you think to yourself. "Why am I holding it?", "Where did it come from?", "Why can't I remember?"

After those thoughts swirl in your mind for a few moments, you decide to walk up to your parents bathroom, open the medicine cabinet, and take that bottle of Vicodin your stepmom has been hiding. You pour yourself a glass of water, and empty the bottle in your hand.

Tears trickle down your face. You blink back those tears, and through a veil of wet lashes you look at yourself in the mirror one last time.

The truth of what you had done begins to sink in. You fight back those tears and take the pills.

You walk downstairs to the living room and sit down on the couch between the lifeless bodies of your three young siblings. You feel a little dozy and tired. You close your eyes and fall into a deep and extremely comfortable sleep. But before you do so, you whisper to yourself "They'll never know why? but I'll forever know God."

The Definition of a Friend?

Sometimes I wonder what the requirement would be to count someone as a "friend." Are people too free with putting others in that category or am I being a cynic?

To me, a friend is someone who's been there for me over the years, through thick, through the thin--someone who picks me up when I'm down. But then, I see other people who hang out with someone once or twice, and they assume that person is a friend for life. For me, I have to really know someone inside and out before I know it's totally okay to let that person in.

It kind of gets to me when I see someone I know deeming someone their new "best friend" while completely leaving old friends behind. They should know that their longtime friends will always be there, and the "flavor of the week" might not be all that they seem.

How I Survived Four Siblings

Sibling Rivalry or Sibling Revelry?

My friends H and T were recently pondering what it would be like to have a sibling. I am the youngest of five children: three sisters and one brother. While there are many good aspects to having siblings, I can tell you that sometimes it's not all fun and games.

The annoyances include the loud noise of the chatter-box in the family [ok, I'm the chatter-box :p], the competitive challenges, and the occasional arguments. People compare you to your siblings too. One of my sisters was valedictorian, prompting people to look at my academic achievements differently. Some of my siblings were over-achievers in college, which seemed to raise expectations when it was time for me to apply.

But there's a good side to having brothers and sisters. Learning to cooperate in a group setting will surely benefit me later in life. Perhaps best of all is observing the mistakes of your older siblings and learning from them. And finally, there's simply the unconditional love that you get from a sibling. As much as you may bicker and argue, you know they are there for you.

Take a few minutes to tell your brothers and sister how much they mean to you.

Movie Review: 27 Dresses

A Romantic Comedy that revolves around the life of Jane, Katherine Heigl, a codependent, perpetual bridesmaid whose sister steals the man of her dreams and then expects her to plan the wedding. The movie is light, and frothy, but still funny and cute. Although generic, and predictable most of the time, 27 Dresses doesn't fail to deliver. Recommended for all Romantic Comedy fans.

Next-gen Apple MacBook & MacBook Pro renderings published by MacRumors.

According to Apple Insider and Mac Rumors, the next revision of the MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook lines will include "major design changes".

The 13-inch MacBook line will undergo a drastic change in design. A recent post on Apple Insider suggests that the line will abandon the current plastic enclosure and go for the more eco-friendly Aluminum and Stainless Steel.

The 15 & 17-inch MacBook Pro line is also expected to sport a new and trendy Aluminum/Glass look this June; borrowing some of the aspects that were included in the new iMac and MacBook Air.

Hopefully, this new revision will include a Multi-touch trackpad for the MacBook this time, and optional Solid State Drives for both lines.

Getting to know you : Dr. ?

Most of us spend almost 5 to 6 hours a day in Campus. That's 30 hours a week, 120 hours a month, and 1,440 hours a year.

We spend most of this time with professors and instructors who work countless hours teaching and educating us. They are our guides and mentors. They posses the light and truth that broadens our minds and expands our knowledge.

But who is that person that stands up in front of the classroom? Who is that person that sits you all in a circle and discusses pages in a book? Who is that person that dedicated their life to educating generations and generations?

After asking myself these question, I felt obligated to try and answer them.

I'll be conducting a series of interviews, titled [Getting to know you : Professors Name], with some of our beloved instructors and professors at the English Department. Through these interviews, we will be able to get to know who these professors and instructors are really.

This, in turn, will help students get to know their professors better. And, hopefully, will help create a stronger bond between students and professors.
